As a faculty member of the DSD, directed by Arie Graafland, Roemer van Toorn has undertaken PhD research, acted as studio critic, organized seminars, curated public lecture series and addressed lectures within the program of the Delft School of Design, and initiated collective programs for both the DSD and the Berlage Institute.

is an architect a public Intellectual,and which architects can be considered public intellectuals? was one of the questions a seminar addressed in 2008. Several other seminars have been organized: What is the role of critique in architecture? What to think of the current debate on the projective (post-critical) as well as the ecological (sustainable) turn in atrchitecture today.

A DSD seminar related to the Green Dream research by the Why Factory was entitled: "The Anthology of the Three". Furthermore a special lecture series has been organized at the DSD where Dutch architects spoke about research within their practice. Adriaan Geuze from West 8, Mels Crouwel from Benthem/Crouwel, Reinier de Graaf of AMO, Kees Kaan of Claus & Kaan, Kamiel Klaasse of NL Architects, Michelle Provoost of CRIMSON and many other practicing offices lecturered. International DSD/Berlage seminars have been organized with Michael Hays, and lecturers such as Lars Lerup, Bart Lootsma, Teddy Cruz, Anthony Vidler, and for instance Michael Speaks.
